Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana
Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana was phenomenal and checked all the boxes I was looking for in an all inclusive resort!
When our trip to Japan for Thanksgiving break was cancelled due to Covid we began looking for somewhere we could travel. The Dominican Republic was open and after looking through countless resort options we settled on the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana.
Hyatt Ziva is a short 10 min ride from the Punta Cana Airport and is located in the private gated area of Cap Cana on Juanillo Beach. Juanillo beach is a beautiful white sand beach with stunning blue water.
The resort itself is stunning with beautiful grounds, pools, and a palm tree lined beach. Connected to Hyatt Ziva is Hyatt Zilara an adult only resort that the parents can take advantage of at any point during the trip.
The minute you step into the lobby you feel the beauty of the resort.
We were greeted at check in with fruit punch and a delicious passion fruit mimosa, and then taken to our room on the 8th floor with stunning views of the resort.
Some key features of the resort that are great if you have kids are the kids club, teen club, and water park. The water park is just down the hill from the lobby and right before the water park is the teen club and kids club.
The teen club is for kids 10 and up. They are able to come and go from the teen club when it is open. Usually the club was open 3-11 when we were there. The kids club is where younger kids can go for fun and supervised games. You must check your child in and check them out since they are being supervised by staff on site
The water park was the perfect size. It has 5 slides and a lazy river as well as a shallow splash zone with slides for younger kids.
They also have two food trucks on site so you can get food and drinks while at the water park. We loved spending an hour a day at the water park and my girls would often go over and spend more time in the afternoon with friends that they made at the resort.
The resort also houses the most phenomenal fitness center I have ever seen at a resort.
It is 14,000 sq ft. facility with multiple rooms. They also offer yoga, spin classes, step classes and private training sessions if you would like. I enjoyed working out there numerous times while at the resort and loved being able to burn off all the calories from the delicious food the resort offers.
The food at the resort was delicious. We ate at all the restaurants on the family side and were able to enjoy a delicious dinner to go from Brando's.
Dining options at the resort are rotating due to reduced capacity but during normal times all restaurants are open nightly. I have listed the restaurants they offer below.
El Mercado - Buffet available for breakfast, lunch and dinner
Noodle and Thread - Delicious Italian restaurant open for dinner
Tempest Table - Hibachi, Mongolian grill, and Sushi
Chinola - Geared towards clean eating. Only available for Club level for breakfast and lunch
Navigator Grill - Caribbean food served poolside
Coffee Republic - Coffee's and Tea along with Ice Cream and small snacks
Prontoz - Woodfired Pizza, Hamburgers, Fries
Moments- Sports Bar
Grog Grotto - Rum Bar
Twisted Timbers - Lobby bar
Spiritz - Pool bar
La Zizi- Food truck at Water park with Hot Dogs, Burgers, and Nachos
24 hour Room service
We ate daily at Mercado for breakfast and loved how the resort has adapted the buffet to meet Covid standards. You did not serve yourself but were served by staff wearing masks and gloves behind plexi glass.
The Entertainment team at Hyatt was phenomenal. They went above and beyond to entertain my kids at the pool and the evening entertainment was great! We were there over thanksgiving and they even had the cutest and most interesting carnival for Thanksgiving. We loved the extra activities at the pool for the kids Thanksgiving day as well.
One more thing that makes this resort great is it is a 4 min drive from Punta Espada golf course. We had friends who golfed while at the resort and allowed me to post their pictures and this golf course looks amazing!
